To All of My Adriana's Caravan Friends:

As many of you know, I went back to school in January 2010 to pursue a graduate degree in international affairs at The New School in New York City.

As a part of the program, I traveled to Uganda this past summer, to teach video to children at an orphanage in Kampala that focuses on music and dance.

I could never have anticipated how much I would love the children and administrators at M-Lisada Orphanage, or that I would make this place and these kids the focus of my new career.

So here I am, back at home, setting up a non-governmental organization, (NGO), writing grants; creating a film and other promotional materials; collecting computers, clothes, and books; and getting ready to do some fundraising.

Some of you have been with me for 20 years, and have become good friends. I want you all to follow me as I pursue my new venture. I cannot promise you good food, but I can promise you a different kind of nurturing experience.

The Adriana's Caravan website closed down on October 1. Please visit my blog, beingrochelle.com, for stories about Africa, or write to me at my new email address, beingrochelle@gmail.com.

For a while, I will write about my experiences in New York, the complexities of the not-for-profit world, as well as the exciting developments at M-Lisada in Uganda.

And in the summer of 2012, there will be adventures for you too—I will take volunteers back to M-Lisada with me. Please let me know if you're interested. I'm also organizing a safari in Uganda, open to all of my friends and customers.

I hope you will continue to be part of this family. Of course, if you are not interested in receiving these letters, you may unsubscribe at any time.

Best regards,

Rochelle Zabarkes
